Might’ve Been

A little bit of Sohmer lore for you today.

Back in 1995, following my high school graduation, I was left at a crossroads. What the balls was I going to do with my life?

My parents weren’t billionaires, I had no natural talents and Onlyfans wasn’t around yet. Clearly I was going to have to find a career and work for a living. Distasteful a thought as it was, I knew I had to get on a path.

What that path would be, I had absolutely no idea; and at the same time: I had all the ideas.

One of the more odd ones at the time, was the thought of becoming a police officer. I was young, and still viewed the world through privileged and ignorant eyes, but a future of kicking in doors and catching drug dealers was appealing. NYPD Blue was very popular at the time.

I’d make detective, and then maybe run a SWAT team. They get the fun toys.

Clearly, I took a different route with my life, and my career, but sometimes, when I’m feeling a little melancholy, I wonder. I wonder what might’ve been. I wonder what kind of cop I would have been.

And then I see this. And I know, deep in my heart, that THIS, is exactly the type of cop I would’ve been:
