TITLE BOX
In the title box, RAYNE walks in holding his agenda from school.
DAD
How was school today?
RAYNE
You know how the teacher usually draws a smiley or sad face in my agenda?
RAYNE
Depending on my behaviour?
NEXT PANEL, DAD and RAYNE are both looking at the agenda.
DAD
Is this an explosion?
RAYNE
It’s hard to see the disembodied face, but it’s there.
NEXT ROW
INSIDE – LIVING ROOM. DAD goes down on his knees to talk to RAYNE. RAYNE isn’t happy.
DAD
You need to start doing better at school.
RAYNE
I don’t like it.
RAYNE
They keep putting me in a box.
RAYNE sulks, and DAD tries to understand.
RAYNE
I don’t belong in a box.
DAD
I know, buddy.
DAD tries to be encouraging. RAYNE looks at him funny.
DAD
I know how clever you are and how you’ll follow your own path.
DAD
But for now, you need to do your best to fit in that box.
DAD sighs, looking at RAYNE.
DAD
…and I just realized you were talking about a literal box.
RAYNE
I sneezed in it yesterday.
RAYNE
Was pretty gross.
