These past few weeks, I can’t stop thinking about Russia.
I just can’t shake the feeling that we’re at a major inflection point, on a global scale. Similar to the Munich Agreement in 1938, where the French and English agreed to let Hitler take Czechoslovakia (without their consent, of course) in exchange for leaving the rest of them alone. Chamberlain even returned to England declaring ‘Peace for our time’.
Hitler broke the agreement 7 months later, and invaded Poland 5 months after that.
Turned out that appeasement with mass murderers was not a solid policy choice.
With that top of mind, and then hearing the American President say ‘Russia’s been fine in Ukraine’ the same week that-
- Russia attacked Ukraine with almost 2,700 attack drones, 1,700 aerial bombs, and 66 missiles
- Russia targeted Ukraine’s energy, oil, and gas sectors 76 times following a declared U.S.-led energy truce; cutting power for over a million people. A strike
- At least 18 civilian death, and 147 injured.
At the same time, the Americans have-
- Cut and limited access to Starlink/Starshield satellites, cripping the Ukranian response to Russian attacks
- Stopped intelligence sharing with Ukraine by not giving advance warning of strikes
- Not delivered Patriot missiles to Ukraine, that were bought and paid for by the Europeans
- Blamed Ukraine for the failed energy ceasefire, despite Ukraine adhering to it for a few days while Russia only increased their attack
- Chastized Zelensky for not holding elections, despite him offering to immediately hold them with a 60 days ceasefire.
- Struck a deal with Russia for Diesel
- Waved away the punishing sanctions that were due to take place on the 18th.
- Been attempting to setup a meeting with Russia and China, to decide Ukraine’s fate.
- Blamed Ukraine for the war, despite them, you know, BEING INVADED
- Declared Zelensky doesn’t want peace, despite ALL THE FUCKING EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY
This is more than appeasement, this is actively helping a murderer get rewarded for his actions, and ensuring, without a shadow of the doubt, that conquering Ukraine is just the beginning of Putin’s ambition of restoring the Soviet Union.
I wish I knew what they had hanging over Trump’s head, but for now, all I can do is watch in horror as the people of Ukraine suffer, alone-
And watch history repeat itself.
