STD…That Was Poorly Thought Out
I’ve been on the fence regarding Star Trek: Discovery since it made it’s debut in the fall.
I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t blowing my mind good, and while I hate to be one of ‘those’ guys, it simply did not feel like Star Trek. It had far more of a Battlestar Galactica (modern) vibe, and that’s absolutely not a bad thing (we don’t talk BSG Season 4. Ever.), it’s not a Trek thing.
The first 8 or so episodes could have been preluded with ‘On this Episode, Here’s Why This Character is Emotionally Damaged’.
Again, I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t igniting a fire under my ass to count down the days until the next episode.
That was, until Episode 10.
Ho-Lee-Shite.
That episode completely turned me around, and I might even watch the show live when it airs on Sunday because me needs to see more. It was an action packed 48-minutes, filled with great moments and finally, showing us what this series could be.
It is my fondest hope that the series has found it’s footing, and this is the new bar they’ve set. The alternative, that this was a freak accident of an episode, is rather depressing to consider.
So for now, consider me all in for Star Trek: Discovery.
And Tilly. Forever Tilly.
