TITLE BOX
In the title box, RAYNE and DAD are in the grocery store. DAD answers easily.
RAYNE
If you could impart one quality to me, what would it be?
DAD
Empathy.
NEXT PANEL, RAYNE nods, DAD shrugs.
RAYNE
Like Professor X?
DAD
Sure.
NEXT ROW
SCHOOL – IN CLASS. All the students are doing their work at their desk. RAYNE looks outside the window.
RAYNE rubs his eyes, looking out the window again.
RAYNE's eyes are getting red and irritated, and he raises his hand.
The TEACHER calls on him.
TEACHER
Yes, Rayne?
RAYNE
Can flowers laugh?
RAYNE with puffy eyes, allergies flaring, points to the window outside, where there's a field of dandelions.
RAYNE
Because I'm pretty sure those dandelions are laughing at me.
