What time is it?

That's right, folks, it is that time of year again we affectionately refer to as 'Survey Time'. It's a chance for you, our loyal reader, to fill in an anonymous survey and tell us some valuable information about yourself so that we can then put together a pretty little spreadsheet for our advertisers.
If I didn't make that sound fun enough, I apologize, but I'm not working with much here.
As a little encouragement, everyone who fills out the form and then posts a reply to this thread in the forum with the words 'I filled it out!', will be entered into a contest draw. The winner will receive an LICD gift pack, chock full of books, shirts and anything else I can steal from Randy.
The survey, once again, can be found here.
We hugely appreciate you taking the time for this mundane task, it's important.
And in keeping with this week's theme of my Red Bull obsession, check out these pictures of Red Bull's London HQ.
I plan on doing something similar with the new BFE offices.

GIMME

Over my childhood and teenage years, there are many things I have seen at a glance and responded immediately with an "I want that".
As the years have gone by, and I've grown into the mature and responsible adult you see before you today, I've been fortunate that most of things I so desire, are within my reach (or so I keep telling myself, it tends to motivate me). Granted I live a rather modest life style, which suits me quite nicely, there is still an occasion where the 6 year old version of me comes to the surface to scream "I WANT THAT!".
Such an occasion happened today when J sent me an e-mail with the following attachment.

That's right. It's a Red Bull MiG Fighter.
I WANT THAT!

Quote of the Day
"Don't you think their hands were shaking
As that rocket ship touched down?
I'm sure they shivered
When they finally touched the ground
And the giant leap so fragile that it hardly made a sound
But it must have been amazing
What a world they got to see
So I don't care -- my foolish fear won't get the best of me"

We're Sorry

Reading the news of late, I can't help but feel that Mother Nature is intent on kicking the living crap out of us.
And as someone who resides on an island that would be flooded in a moment should the ice caps melt and water come rushing down the St. Laurence River, I believe it may be time to issue an apology of sorts. Maybe as a gesture of goodwill, we could stop clubbing baby seals for a few months?
If planet earth can be represented as a living organism, than humankind is definitely the foreign body.
Whatever happens, I think it's clear that I need to stop reading the news, and spend more of my online time searching for porn, as was intended.
- Because I can.

"Oh, so mother nature needs a favor? Well, maybe she should have thought of that when she was besetting us with droughts and floods and poison monkeys."

Voter's Revolution

Due to the current excitement in the realm of politics, we thought it would be the perfect time to introduce two new t-shirts, now available for pre-sale, for those of you whom are politically or revolutionary minded.
Or, for those of you who like wearing attractive clothing. Either way, as long you spread our message, we're all good.
First up, based on this strip, we've taken it onto ourselves to promote the only election that matters, with the only candidate that can save your immortal soul.

Taking a different turn now, and a very different position, allow me to introduce Rayne Guevara, the man who will bring forth the revolution. Of what, or against whom, we're not sure, so for now we'll just go with 'Everything and Everyone'.

Both shirts are on pre-sale, and will be shipping out in the next couple of weeks. As we don't want to have more to move next month, we're ordering these to order. If you want one, now's the time.
And I swear to Jebas, if I hear anymore about Miley Cyrus' naked back (oh, heavens no!), I'm going to punch one of the Jonas Brothers in the neck.

Looking for a Fight

For the past year or so, I've been searching for a non-profit organization to get involved with, in support of a cause I believe in. I've narrowed it down to two options, the first being the energy crisis and the second being children's literacy.
Getting children around the world to read more is important, but I find myself leaning more towards our energy and fuel issues, of which there are many. I firmly believe that a healthy portion of the world's ills could be cured, or at the very least treated, should we eliminate our dependence on foreign oil. Past that, we should be working towards eliminated our dependence on oil.
Identifiying an issue was the first part, it's the next I'm having problems with. What can I do, what can Blind Ferret Do, what can our combined audience of a few million readers do?
That's the question, and for that, I turn once again to you. What should we be doing as a community? What can we do to promote awareness for this issue? What can we do to personally work on alternate energy sources?
Let me know your thoughts in the forums.
In the meantime, however, I highly recommend heading over to theoildrum.com. The site was introduced to me by Jeff very recently, and it's been an addictive and enlightening read, updated daily.
If you're as concerned about your kids fighting wars for limited natural resources or living through a worldwide recession that makes the Great Depression look like an off day as I am, it's time to get educated.
I'd get down from my soap box now, except that I like it up here.
It makes me feel tall.
